In the Lana Turner bio recently aired, Sandra is wearing a scarf and has a raspy sort of voice. That piece was done in 1995!!! Or didn't anyone notice? She had a sore throat that day six years ago! Big deal! I had quadruple bypass surgery in '96 and I'm still here. Sandra has had more than her share of health problems. Let's not add to them if they aren't true. Let's all be cool!

I (as you know) have my own personal everyday reminder of someone past...but who is very present, both in my memories, my heart, and in my life. The little brown-eyed blonde I met 40 years ago, married Come September, and was the image of our favorite star, the mother of my children, through whom we share six grandkids. Talk about old memories...living in the past IS fun, especially if you come home to her every night. Even if she didn't look like someone else, the joy of sharing a life's experience with the same person has no comparison. I have every thing available commercially, even TV episodes. What are they talkng about? The TV lifts are not otherwise available. It seems that our emails are answered by very different people each time. BUT...don't lose faith. If enough of us hammer on it long enough, something should give. A CAVEAT!...Don't insist on a one week stand. For many, that may be too many in so short a time. Such a Festival should be spread over a month, and when better than April?Sandy's birthday is April 23...She'll be 59, and what a wower of a 59!!! Let's hang in there!

In fact, I suggested that TCM do this for Sandra when I wrote them back in November. By the way, has everybody tried contacting AMC? Remember, they're a good choice for this project, too.

After a visit to Web TV's All Movie Guide, this is the info I came up with. THE MANHUNTER was actually shot and completed in 1968 and slated for a 1969 release, but was later cancelled after a disastrous preview. Somehow, the film showed up on British TV in 1972. THE MANHUNTER was finally telecast on American TV four years later on April 3, 1976. As far as I know, that is the last time THE MANHUNTER appeared on American TV, and it has never had a home video release.

Yes the film had a disastrous preview, added to which Sandra hated it! She apparently has the only extant copy on Video, and she AIN'T SHARING!! This film may have had a brief run in Australia, for there is a frequent offering of an Australian playbill for it on Ebay. This is NOT the most elusive film, though. The most elusive, which NOBODY knows ANYTHING about, is 'AD EST DI MARSA MATRUH', an Italian production shot in '71 with SD. Unknown is the plot, who else starred, the production company, the producer, director, etc., color or bw, was Sandra dubbed in Italian??? The list is endless... I have written to a source in Italy that might shed some light. Will share if I hear anything. Anyone know anything? Please share. That is indeed the most obscure of all of Sandra's films. In fact, I often forget it because I know so little about it. Out of all of the movie books I have, it's only listed in one and all the info it gives about the film is a 1971 release date. We've got to show just how serious we really are. As for AMC, they're an excellent choice for this type of project as well. I emailed them about two months back before I unwittingly vanished from Web Tv and I haven't received a response that I know of, so I'm going to contact them again. Keep at it. Something WILL happen if we are determined enough and I believe everyone on this forum has the determination, so I believe if we keep up the faith, our efforts will be blessed. These things do take time, and the fan community has to keep at it by writing in. Linda set up a site on her homepage permitting access to 'Livelyset.net' where its webmaster, Shaz has posted a piece (authored by us), with photos, and the Film Festival,and how to go about submitting requests to TCM. There can be complications due to royalties, and to the way these old films are packaged. It all takes time. One also must bear in mind that it is a very large audience out there, and Sandra is not necessarily all things to all people (I couldn't imagine why...)and we must be realistic. But I agree with Pam. We must be persistent. I posted a response to a similar query on the SD fan email exchange, urging persistence. We have to keep the faith!

I have exchanged tapes with other fellow fans, and everyone has been very good about returning things in a timely fashion...including the A&E bio. You inquired about 'The Manhunter', and 'Ad Est di Marsa Matruh' As for the former, my best source tells me that the film was never released, Sandra didn't like it, and it never existed on video.Most of her films have not been released on Video. Ten have, and are available commercially, for a price, including 'Houston...' Apparently she has her own copy of 'Manhunter'...but does not like the film. As for 'Ad Est di...' quite a few fans have inquired, and, in my position as self-appointed Professor emeritus of Sandradeology (PhSD), I have undertaken a research project to find out about it. It was made in Italy, by an Italian production company, and released in 1971. It may have been a 'spaghetti western' for all we know. The dialogue having being in Italian, Sandra was probably dubbed. I live in the Washington DC area, and plan to visit the Cultural Attaché's office at the Italian Embassy and inqire about this most elusive of productions. As soon as I hear something.
