Actress Sandra Dee and her battle with eating disorders was mentioned in the Feb.17th, 1992 issue of "People Magazine". Tracey Gold, the young actress on TVs Growing Pains was on the cover and the article was entitled "Eating Disorders: A Hollywood History". The article mentioned Sandra's battle with anorexia and bulimia since age 9."Hers was a desperate attempt to control what she perceived as an unmanageable body and a even more unmanageable life," the article states." For more than a year, Dee ate virtually nothing but lettuce. Twice as a young teenager she overdosed after swallowing Epsom salts as a purgative....the 5'5 actress still fights the disease but has increased her weight to 95 pounds."
